Pearl was established in 2003 in a studio in Grey Lynn, Auckland New Zealand, focussing on woman’s clothing by creating small designer runs and buying in overseas and New Zealand designer labels. Over the ensuing years Pearl has become the predominant label in store.

Founder Cris Roberts creates timeless elegant garments for special occasion and daywear, using silk, linen, and New Zealand merino in a broad spectrum of colour.

Most of the patterns that have been created are still on site, and the collections from the classic cigar pant to wide leg pant, halter dress, wrap shirt, silk slip and dupion circle skirt are always available - if not in store they can be ordered.

Cris is passionate about the 1930s and has a modern take on vintage design. Her inspiration is drawn from the loose and languid nature of ‘30s design, particularly bias-cut slips and woollen lounge wear. Pearl has a reputation for dressing women for weddings, mother of the bride or groom, bridesmaids and the bride.

Cris has a passion to make as many women as possible feel they can wear beautiful clothes, and look sensational. She works in the store herself, which gives her direct experience and knowledge of women of all shapes and sizes, enabling Cris to style and create exciting garments for her clients.

All Pearl garments are cut in house, and made in New Zealand.
